On the frozen island of Phanallsia, nestled within the mountains is the hidden city of Elementals, Kjarra (kyara). From below, the mountains look hardly different from any other mountain range, but as you ascend up through the low hanging clouds, their world unfolds. Far too cold to be outside without coverings, the people of Kjarra wear protective suits, including masks, and gloves. The air is so thin, they wear an air generator...a small device that fits within their noses, pulling air in and concentrating it in flexible tanks worn within their armor. Thus, they never run out of oxygen. The wind elementals have built in gliders within the backs of their armored suits, and are usually assigned to jobs involving watching. Sort of guardians, helping protect others from falls when there's ice, getting anyone in need of medical treatment inside quickly, watching for intruders, etc. Because the air is thinner, fire elementals have a little difficulty in using their ability at the higher altitudes. However, at lower altitudes, it's not an issue, and weapons have been specially devised in a similar fashion as the air generators for breathing. They aren't for strong melee combat, as the core is empty, for the air concentration. Spears, tridents, and any pole-type weapon is of use, and gives off flames when the elemental sets it ablaze. They are usually internal guards, where their power works without issue. For water elementals, most are healers, however some have taken to using their ability to create the clouds that cover the mountain. Able to work with the natural moisture in the atmosphere, they keep their civilization concealed. Most do not wield weapons, as there's little need with their power. The Earth elementals are the muscle and main physical defense of Kjarra. Based inside a mountain, they are at ease, have plenty of earth to utilize, and have the most opportunities. If not "Defenders" (different from a guard...the Defenders would defend both guards and whoever is being guarded), they are architects, builders, and teachers. Since they live in the mountains, it's imperative that all learn how to live there, and they are the best to teach this.
