This is a difficult subject because what seems logical or cool to one person, may seem completely unrealistic or pointless to another. I've run a poll about technology in SRIF. Based on the results at this point in time, I'm making a non-permanent rule. What this means is that for the time being, this rule will be in place. If I change it...it will be changed permanently. There will be no flip-flopping back and forth. As of right now, I would prefer to keep technology in the chat down to basics. The world as these people know it have not included wood, paper, much water, or vegetation. Water is invaluable as is oil and coal. Fossil fuels are fairly common...as water would be today irl, because all of the old vegetation would've decayed. About the only machines that could likely exist would be older machines...ones built within the last 40 years. Metal would be a precious commodity...it would be used for so many different things, but would be utilized mostly for building infrastructures, the auto industry, weapons to a smaller degree, and of course the machines used to make things (factory machines). Most metal would NOT be allowed to be used for useless purposes such as robots that kill. It's too valuable. And it would likely be a government regulated product. Money wouldn't be able to purchase the right to use metal like this. Despite the rps in the past, I'm making it thus way hence forth that technology without purpose for the average consumer, should be limited to basics (tanks are fine...but no computer brains...just as an example). The rule in srif originally, and still is, that if the technology isn't used today and not known (okay, they have protocols for flying cars irl, but when have you seen someone using one?), then you can't use it. Yes I'm targeting a specific idea in this...but we, irl, don't have robots that walk around with artificial intelligence and fight in wars. Therefore, this sort of thing should not exist in srif. Computers? Fine. Internet? Fine. Cell phones? Fine. Androids? No... Any questions, please feel free to ask, but please accept the answer.
