These rules must be read before you RP or are registered in SRIF. There are no exceptions to the rules. By reading these rules you are agreeing to follow them if you rp or are registered. If they are not followed, action will be taken resulting in warnings, booting, or banning.
Rule 1: OOC - All out of character posts must be made using parentheses (( )) and should be limited. Any form of OOC that may cause disruption in the chat should be taken into private chat. Do not use OOC to harrass or insult other people. Please get an OOC Handle as well.
Rule 2: Deities and God Characters - All deities and god characters shall remain as NPCs (Non-Played Characters) or played by myself, on an as-needed basis.
Rule 3: Weaponry must conform to the time period. This is present day on Spyridon, too.
Rule 4: Admins and moderators have the right to refuse a registration application. If you submit one, contact an admin or moderator. If the application was denied, you can ask why, but accept the reasons.
Rule 4: Immortals - There are some people who think immortal means a person cannot die by any means. Immortal actually means a person cannot die from age. If your character is immortal that is fine. But they may die by the sword, by disease, etc. Any natural means may kill them (unless they are otherwise immune to disease etc.) ANY Char can die- yes, that means you and you and you! No char is above death and if you don't want your char to die then stay away from any and all conflicts. If somehow you were engaged in a conflict you want nothing to do with, tell the ones in the conflict and find a way out of it.
Rule 6: Original Characters - ALL Characters must be original. Dragging a char out of a comic book with the same name, abilities and backstory while RPing the persona differently is wrong e.g. A char shows up looking like Sephiroth, is named Sephiroth, has all of Sephiroth's powers -and- has a backstory similar to Sephiroth's and he plays with bunnies and gets drunk all the time.... not happening. RP is about creating, not stealing.
Rule 7: Time travel from SRI is NOT allowed between chats. There are very few exceptions. So please do not bring in the same characters from SRI, into SRIF. If you want to bring one in, you need to email me for permission. c_m_rainwater@hotmail.com. I would also prefer you to come up with a different name as well, but it's just a preference. I wouldn't stop you from RPing in SRIF if you didn't. I would stop you if you brought your SRI character in without emailing or PMing me first and getting my say so.
Rule 8: While space travel is allowed, it's rare. Please, NO STAR WARS OR STAR TREK. This is a D&D-type setting.
Rule 9: OOC/IC Split - All conversations had OOC are to be kept seperate from IC knowledge. While you may talk about what is going on IC, you canoot allow OOC information to be leaked to your character unless he/she has already been expressly informed. Ex: If someone says OOC that his character's sword can be destroyed by putting it in lava, then sticking it in water, then throwing it twenty feet into the air- then nobody who should fight this character can randomly do all those things just to melt the character's sword. OOC and IC are to be kept SEPERATE at all times.
Rule 10: Class Limits: Currently there are none that I can think of. This is NOT set in stone. Class limitations however, ghosts and spirits are anchored to one location and cannot affect the physical.
Rule 11: I'm adding race limits...no gods or goddesses. Obviously no DBZ or stuff like that. This is D&D, if your character isn't a D&D type individual, get clearance before creating them. Demons that were not D&D do exist from this rule change, however only D&D demons will be registered from this time forward. Therefore, no non-D&D demons. There are other race limits, but they are based on an as-turn-up basis. (No mind flayers, no balrog or balors, no tarasques, Hezrou, Glabrezu, Maralith...etc Any larger than a medium outsider needs specific approval)
Rule 12: IC life and RL. Keep these seperate! I don't know how many times I've suggested this, not seen it followed, and it ended up bad. I talk to everyone on IM, and even one or two on the phone, but I keep everything seperate from the chat itself. If RL gossip ends up in the chat, and I hear about it, I will ban the offender...and anyone participating...for 3 days. If during that time I find proof, the ban becomes permanent. No ifs, ands, or buts. I would prefer you not gossiping about other chat members, but I can't control it, outside the chat. You start bringing it into the chat and you're not only going to get yourself in trouble, but you may drag me, or others, down with you. This HAS HAPPENED. So I know what I'm saying.
Rule 13: If you have a campaign going, and are absent without warning for longer than a month, your campaign will be at the mercy of the rpers. Control of it will go over to the rpers, and out of your hands. You will no longer, from that time forward, be in control of it, or be able to seize it back. Starting a campaign/story line that involves the entire chat in some way is a major responsibility...if you're not up to it, don't do it. If you don't plan on being in the chat, at minimum once per week, this is not something you should be doing. Give the idea to someone else who can run it.
Rule 14: When you ask a person to join their rp, please don't do it in the chatroom. This puts the one you're asking into an awkward situation. If they say no, they look like an ass. In IM they can explain better, or even PM. If they say no...don't take it personally, it may be a planned rp, or an extra person might make things more difficult...or you might just not have a character the current ones would feel comfortable rping with. Either way, if they say no...respect it and don't join in. The party has the right to put you on ignore if you do, and your posts will not count towards the rp. But if you're out in public, you're free to join ANY RP. If you're rping in public, get over it, people can see you...this means they can walk over and interfere.
Thanks!
