*Story Info: In the 1500's King N'kolai Silvermane, a drow who took a a more "surface" sounding name as an adolescent, ruled Antalousa with an iron fist. He took no queen's hand, but had several concubines, one of which whom he actually loved, named Arabessa. Arabessa was a high elf, who sometimes seemed to return his love, but cried over the loss of her loved ones when she was taken by N'kolai as a slave. When he made his decisions, it was she, standing at his side, or sitting on his lap, whisperring to him the thoughts that plagued her about his decisions. He rarely shut out her words, and so the people below in the city, and those out in the nation, thought him a good king, with a soft but strong heart in his ways.
*Story Info: It was in the year 1009 that he himself had taken the throne, 1010 that Arabessa was brought to him, and 1200 that their daughter, Aravinnia, was born. It was often said that it was Arabessa's longing for her daughter that drove her to her death. Aravinnia had run away from home to persue a more common life, only 100 years prior. Others said Aravinnia had come back, murderring her, to free her from her master's leash. The truth is still unkown to this day, and at the time of Aravinnia's death in 2006, was thought to be a lost piece of history.
*Story Info: In 1507, Aravinnia took the throne as queen, after her travels, when her father "became ill." Shortly after her return home, she announced that he'd passed away. She claimed it was because her mother, and her father, had been soul bound and he'd eventually been consumed by her death, and followed her into the afterworld. A great feast was held in his honor, and to celebrate the young Aravinnia's acendance to the throne. As she sat looking out over the people...her people...her heart was heavy, and tears were said to fall over her cheeks. Many remarked that she was weeping for joy over the joy her father surely must be knowing now. The only one there who knew, however that she was feeling quite the opposite of joy, was herself. She held secrets that she could tell no one...
*Story Info: Aravinnia went on to marry as humans do, twice, each time bearing a daughter to her husband, both of whom passed away. After the 2nd one's death, no suitors would come forward and she declared herself married to her throne, and to no man. She didn't need a man by her side to rule...she never had. Raising her two daughters, Aira and Renae, she never spoke of her past life as Avrianna Cadessa...the travelling rogue. Or her father, save to tell them he'd passed away, his name, and his past so they might know their own.
*Story Info: She never had the chance to tell them what really happened....
*Story Info: February 2007: A guard recently who worked in the dungeon was informed, as all guards were, of the clinically insane prisoner held in the dungeon. He ranted and raved, claiming to be king of Antalousa. This of course was completely insane, as there was no king until Renae took the throne, following her mother's murder, and was married in 2006. And this drow was most certainly not him. As this guard pushed in the food into the slot in the door to feed the prisoner for the first time on his own, the crazy old man managed to seize the guard's wrist after one of his shackles had broken, and clung to him. The guard yelped out for help but it took a few minutes for anyone to respond. Meanwhile, the old man frantically spoke to the guard, explaining the situation. Just as he finished, he was tazered and released the guard who was immediately fired for being so careless.
*Story Info: The guard went out to the unemployment line, as was the norm, but this plagued him...and he spoke to people about his encounter, learning about the history of Antalousa, and King N'kolai. Stepping out of line, he went to the library in the city, and rumaged until he could find a book about the history of Antalousa, with pictures of the royal lineage. To his shock and confusion...the man in the painting looked remarkably similar to the prisoner in the dungeon...
*Story Info: Rumors are beginning to spread of this, though Antalousian guards come onto the television to try to silence them, telling the public that indeed, the insane prisoner looks like the old king, but infact was a mental patient who merely had a mild resemblance. The guard who'd been grabbed had been in a panic, and had not seen the man correctly. It had been his first day. They'd all known this lunatic to be in fact a lunatic, pacing the floors, speaking to himself, and his own reflection when there was one in the water he spilled on the floor.
*Story Info: Drow across the nation are often seen now, conversing amongst themselves...secretly...as this rumor spreads like wildfire. If it were true, it would mean that Renae was in fact, not queen. The chaos was alluring to some...and a strange silence is filling the nation , drawing a curtain between the drow and others. {end}
