Captain K. Ethan Shard is the youngest of the line of the Shards. The heir of Terrico and a honorary member of the United Peninsula of Havilund. Ethan was born in Terrico on March 10th, 2489 as Keneth Ethan Shard and grew up in the safety and security of Vledin. He left at a young age to apply as a member of the Antalousan army, he had the aptitude and drive to follow in his family's footsteps and be a captain.
Ethan's transport was attacked by elementals on the way to Antalousa, he escaped a nearly certain death and talked his way between trading posts but ended up at Nartoule where he applied in the Nartoule/Celedonian army, while in the NCA Ethan learned to use a blade and spent a lot of time on the frontlines during the end of the Caellyra war. Ethan eventually was granted honors in his actions in the war and granted passage back to Vledin where he was passed the reins by his grandfather, to the Dark Duchess. The Dark Duchess was already honored as a flagship for Vledin and in one final battle over Celedon, Nirka, and Caellyra, the Dark Duchess lead a battalion with Ethan at the helm to try and push back Caellyra in one final push. It was bitter sweet, the mission was called off just over Caellyra as a peace treaty was signed.
Ethan's involvement in the final push granted him awards such as honorary membership to the United Peninsula of Havilund, which allowed him and his ship to trade freely with nearly every nation in the peninsula and allowed him to speak at certain trade meetings, though he rarely did.
Ethan is often plagued by memories of the war and to this day takes his ship and his crew personally. Any crewman he lets on his ship is someone he lets into his life and is treated like family.
